Honourable Neo Moroka was elected Member of Parliament for Kgalagadi South and appointed Minister of Trade and Industry in 2004. His Ministry is responsible for economic growth and diversification through the attraction of foreign direct investment, international trade and relations as well as entrepreneurship development. He is also former President of the Botswana Confederation of Commerce Industry and Manpower (BOCCIM).
Before joining Government in November 2004, Mr Moroka worked for BP Botswana, a subsidiary of British Petroleum where he served as General Manager, Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors for seven years after which he went to Zambia to become the Managing Director of BP Zambia. In 2001 he was transferred to BP South Africa to hold the portfolio of Commercial Director, responsible for BP’s commercial (direct sales) activities in the 13 Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) countries and Kenya. His responsibilities included strategy formulation, government liaison and corporate governance as well as overseeing the successful financial performances of the BP subsidiaries in these SADC countries.
