Robert Masitara, born in Molapowabojang, spent his formative years in Peleng Township in Lobatse and was later raised in Bontleng and
Extension 12 in Gaborone. He completed his primary education at Lesedi and Bontleng Primary Schools, alternatively, and his high school
at Naledi Secondary School and Gaborone Secondary School. At Naledi Secondary he had the distinction of being the only student to obtain a
First Class; and while at Gaborone Secondary, he registered another magnanimous feat of being the highest scoring Motswana in the All Senior
Secondary Schools Additional Mathematics Competition in 1985. Masitara went on to repeat this feat, in the All Africa Mathematics Competitions,
when he obtained second position out of 80 contestants from just as many countries. After obtaining a First Class in his Cambridge O Level
Examinations, Masitara carried on his educational finesse and was admitted to the University of Botswana.
