Dikgang Phillip Makgalemele was born on the 04th December, 1965 in Shoshong in a family of BDPs as the last born child. His father Joseph Boyce Makgalemele was the first Councillor for Shoshong. Dikgang studied at Kgamane Primary School (Shoshong), Lesedi Primary School (Gaborone), St Joseph’s College and Lotsane Senior Secondary School.
He holds a Masters Degree In Poverty Reduction and Development Management from the University of Birmingham in the UK, a Diploma in Accountancy and Business Studies from BIAC, and a Certificate In Accountancy & Management of Cooperatives from the Moshi Cooperative, Tanzania. He is one of the few people who acquired a Masters Degree without a first Degree.
Mr Makgalemele served briefly in 2008/09 as the Secretary General / CEO of Botswana Agricultural Union (BAU) and Botswana Cattle Producers Association (BCPA), having served for three (3) years (2004 – 2006) as Managing Director of Medical Rescue International Botswana (MRIB), an emergency medical services (EMS) public company in Botswana. During his helm as MD, MRI recorded its best results (2004-05). He was until December, 2003 the Executive Director of Botswana National Youth Council and served for many years in the cooperative movement. He is also the past Chairperson of Botswana Council of NGOs is also a member of Junior Chamber International (JCI) since 2002 and serves in the Board of Youth Health Organisation (YOHO).
