The rock breaking machines, trucks and trains that daily unearthed copper and nickel ore from 1.5km below Earth’s surface could not swathe the unrelenting urge to political activism. In his core make-up every fibre answered to people representation.
This led him to a successful race for a council seat in the Selebi Phikwe Town Council in 1999 scooping Kopano Ward away from opposition hopefuls that were eagerly positioning themselves. It was while in this position that he made Deputy Mayor of Selebi Phikwe Town Council and served the Council as Chairperson of the Finance Committee and a member of several other Committees.
