Mr. Baledzi Gaolathe was born at Nkange, in the Tutume Sub-District of the Central District of Botswana on 4th March 1942. He is married with one daughter and two sons.
Mr. Gaolathe started his primary school education in 1952 at Changate and moved to Maitengwe in 1955, for a short spell to Maun in 1957 and finally to Francistown where he completed his Standard Six School leaving certificate in 1958. He proceeded to Moeng College in 1959 for his secondary school education where he completed Junior Certificate in 1961 and Cambridge Overseas School Leaving Certificate in 1963. He then went to the University of Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland (UBLS) in 1964 where he obtained Bsc Degree with a concurrent certificate in Education in 1967.
Mr. Gaolathe later obtained Bsc in Economics as an external student of the University of London (1973) and MSc (Economics) in National Development and Project Planning (1980) from the University of Bradford in England. Mr. Gaolathe also attended a Trade Promotion Course at the City of London College, Industrial Projects Analysis Course at the Project Planning Centre of the University of Bradford, Balance of payments course at the International Monetary Fund Training Institute, and International Course on the Administration of National Parks and Equivalent Reserves run by University of Michigan in USA. In the course of his career he has attended various seminars, workshops and conferences in economic development related topics and in many cases contributed papers.
