Born 61 years ago in Maitengwe village, Botswana, Mr Edwin Batshu joined Politics upon his retirement from the Botswana Police Service where he served his country for a little over 37 years. Armed with a Primary School Certificate, he joined the Botswana Police Service as a Constable in 1970 and retired in 2007 as Commissioner of Police. During his service as a Police Officer, he received extensive training in Leadership and Management Skills in the United Kingdom, the United States of America (University of Illinois), Singapore, New Zealand (University of Victoria) amongst others.
As Commissioner of Police he helped transform the Botswana Police Service into becoming a results oriented organization in its quest to keep Botswana safe and secure. This resulted with the introduction of Special Constables.
